The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Arsenal Edition

Being an Arsenal fan is like a rollercoaster with no ups and only downs. When I planned to write this article Arsenal had just lost their 8th premier league game, and all fingers were pointed at newly appointed manager Mikel Arteta. Since then Arsenal has won three straight games beating their oil-rich neighbors Chelsea, as well as West Brom and Brighton. I have a lot of things to say about Arsenal and I would like to speak about their season so far in classic Clint Eastwood fashion.
Arsenal is one of the most historically decorated clubs in the world. They have been among Europe's elites every season, and attract the brightest young players. The club had one of the greatest managers ever to live in Arsene Wenger and have always prided themselves in achieving victory through harmony. It is a little bit Ironic when your standard is a cannon but we digress.
The Youth System:
Arsenal’s Hale End Youth system is the pride of the organization right now. They have multiple first-team players who have been promoted and have a bunch more in the ranks. 19-year-old Bukayo Saka who has scored in his last two games is the brightest spot. Bukayo has played everything from left back to attacking mid and has recorded countless assists. Saka is the most renowned player from Hale End but players like Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Emile Smith-Rowe, Reiss Nelson, and Hector Bellerin are all first-team players that owe their success to Hale End.
Players that are also making a name for themselves are also Nikolaj Duus Möller, Miguel Azeez, and Florian Balogun. Nikolaj is a new signing from Sweden who has been tearing it up in the Under 21s. Miguel Azeez and Florian Balogun have seen their names on the bench for Europa League games and Balogun even came on and scored in his first game.
The Youth should encourage all Arsenal fans for the years to come.
Mikel Arteta is one of the best tactical managers in Europe and if given the funds and the chance will lead Arsenal on to great things. Arteta is young, and smart and has delivered big results against Liverpool, and man city in cup games and coming back from 1-0 down to beat Chelsea in the FA Cup Final. Arteta is the future and he will lead Arsenal back to the top.
Recent Results and Management:
The three most recent results are encouraging. Beating the likes of Chelsea and Brighton are huge for Arteta's squad to gain momentum. Arsenal's young guns have been firing on all cylinders, and if Lacazette and Aubameyang can get back in-form Arsenal will win more and more games.
Stan Kreonke has finally decided to invest in the club through his son Josh Kreonke. The most recent signing of Thomas Partey and Gabriel Magalhaes have been incredible and once Partey is back on the pitch, Arsenal’s midfield should become competitive and hopefully win them three points.

Arsenal has lost eight games in the Premier League this season. EIGHT, 8, EiGhT! This is unacceptable from a squad that has been at the top for pretty much the club's whole life cycle. Arsenal is the only club in England's top flight to never get relegated but before the last three results, they were closer than ever to the bottom. Arsenal has not lost that eight games in the early portion of the season since before World War I. That is heartbreaking and horrifying as an Arsenal fan.
Transfer Signings from Chelsea:
David Luiz ^@%*
The aging Chelsea rejects have both signed hefty contracts with Arsenal and I do not understand it one bit. David Luiz is dodgy at best at the back and is said to have questioned his manager's orders. (I will talk more about the locker room in the Ugly part). As for Willian, I feel less comfortable with him on the pitch than I would with Betty White in my starting 11.
As an Arsenal fan, you are well familiar with questionable choices. This season is no different and here is why. WIlliam Saliba has not been given a minute of playtime with the first team but players like Mustafi, David Luiz, and Kolasinac have been starting. Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe have been forgotten about in favor of Willian, and El Neny and Arsenal can barely score because of it. I can’t help but think that if Gabriel Magalhaes was not thrown into the fire, he would still be on the bench.

I know this was in the Bad portion of this article but come on, how does a club lose to Burnley?
Also contradicting what I said above about Stan Kreonke finally investing in the club he is also the biggest problem. I can write words on a page but I cannot begin to talk about how terrible of an owner American Stan Kreonke is. Kreonke has refused to put any money into the club until this season and has essentially started the demise of Arsenal's stellar record. Kreonke has been slow in understanding that there is a difference between European and American sports. While Kreonke has just built his 6 billion dollar stadium for the Los Angeles Rams, Arsenal have been left for the wolves. Hopefully, the Kreonke’s decision to invest more and more into the club and bring Arsenal back from the dead.
The Locker Room
I touched briefly on this in my rant about David Luiz but David Luiz is not the only problem. The locker room is full of huge personalities, namely Alexandre Lacazette, Hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Willian, and David Luiz. The truth is, up until three weeks ago not one of the players listed was fit to wear the shirt this season. They have all been awful, and their 3 million pound a week budget between them seems too high. There have been clamorings that players do not trust Mikel Arteta and have stood up to him. This might have created a lot of adversity. We will see how Arsenal, and Arteta finish out the season, but early on this is not good.
Why is Mustafi, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Willian, David Luiz, Cederic, El Neny, Ceballos, Callum Chambers, Sokratis, and Ozil at the club? This is terrible management. I love Mesut Ozil but his situation is a little bit tricky to discuss. Ozil is one of the greatest footballers I have ever seen pass the ball but he has spoken up against China and their treatment of Muslims. I am not sure exactly if that is why Ozil is being left out of the squad but if so shame on you Arsenal. Every single one of these players needs to be moved on and adequate replacements need to come in.
It is so ugly for us fans right now, but I encourage you if you love The Arsenal as much as me, push through and we will be okay. I am sure there will be therapy after everything is over but it will end. Have faith!
